Established in the city centre for more than a century, the Besançon Botanical Garden is moving to the Fabrika science park. This transplantation is accompanied by an expansion of both its physical and cultural scope. Now connected to the university faculty, the Botanical Garden has increased its surface area fivefold and adds an educational dimension to its scientific vocation.

For the park’s designers, the general public should become more sensitive to climate change through contact with plants and a deeper understanding of how they function. The greenhouse, a major element of the new garden, embodies this back-and-forth between science and biological awareness.
